Evangelism
We have a vision of a Christian community which lives not for its own sake…which is evangelistic in its being. Life Together
Captain Gordon Banks CA and The Revd Richard Jackson work with others to facilitate training in evangelism and discipleship promoting national resources like Alpha, Christianity Explored, Emmaus and Lost for Words.
Gordon Banks, diocesan evangelist, has a Church Army mission caravan and this enables him to stay for an extended period in an area, ordinarily this would be a week but longer stays can be negotiated.
Alpha resources More than one and a half million people completed Alpha around the world in 2007. Many Sussex churches have the use of this resource as part of their mission action plans. Contact 0845 644 7544 or alphacourse.org or local Alpha adviser Harry Goring at Wiston on 01903 812129.
Back to Church Sunday 26th September 2010 will receive backing from our bishops and materials can only be ordered direct from the Back to Sunday updated website: www.backtochurch.co.uk BY 15th June 2010 AT THE LATEST.
NOTE CHANGE OF ORDERING PROCESS
Evangelism training Gordon Banks arranges occasional training for parishes and deaneries.
F2F teams help churches develop faith sharing in their congregations usually by weekend visits to interested churches. They currently work across Sussex with the diocesan evangelist who convenes F2F visiting teams to serve needs as they arise.
Fresh Expressions Gordon Banks heads up this network concerned for evangelistic outreach to unchurched networks. Fresh expressions of the church are being promoted in the context of our diocesan Life Together vision with its challenge to renewal, growth and outreach. There is an email network geared to both celebrate and share good practice in the realm of creative mission. The national Fresh expressions network is convened by the Archbishops’ missioner Graham Cray and his team.
