Countryside

Many of the churches in the diocese are set in rural communities - areas which have undergone considerable change in recent years. There is much stress in agriculture, the village has changed beyond all recognition, and the role of the local church must adapt to circumstances.

The Church and Countryside Group consists of people from rural parishes who have a wide range of experience in country matters. The Group publishes a regular newsletter, ACORA Link, and has a website.

An annual conference is held in the spring each year. For example in 2010 the theme was 'The highs and lows of retirement in the countryside'. Details of the next conference will be available in the preceeding months.

The Action in Rural Sussex (AirS) annual conference takes place in Slaugham on 23rd September 2010 and further details are available here.

A conference on Transport for Life will take place on Monday 20 September 2010 in Uckfield. Further information is available here.
