Collect
Almighty God,
who strengthened your Church in holiness
through the noble works of your confessor and bishop, Saint Wilfrid:
Mercifully grant that we, who commemorate his godly life,
may follow the example of his constancy and courage,
and so come with him to the blessèd fellowship of your saints in glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Bishop Bell (adapted)
The Liturgy of the Word
Either one or two readings from Scripture precede the Gospel reading
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord:
Through all ages my mouth will proclaim your truth.
Of this I am sure, that your love lasts for ever,
That your truth is firmly established as the heavens.
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord.
With my chosen one I have made a covenant;
I have sworn to David my servant:
I will establish your dynasty for ever
and set up your throne through all ages.
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord.
My truth and my love shall be with him;
by my name his might shall be exalted.
He will say to me, ‘You are my father,
my God, the rock who saves me.’
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord.

God, shepherd of your people,
whose servant Wilfrid revealed the loving service of Christ
in his ministry as a pastor of your people:
by this eucharist in which we share
awaken within us the love of Christ
and keep us faithful to our Christian calling;
through him who laid down his life for us,
but is alive and reigns with you, now and for ever.
Amen.
Conclusion
The Prayer of Saint Richard of Chichester
Thanks be to thee, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which thou hast given us,
for all the pains and insults which thou hast borne for us.
O most merciful Redeemer, Friend, and Brother,
may we know thee more clearly,
love thee more dearly,
and follow thee more nearly. Amen.

give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed,
to bring you to full knowledge of him.
Amen.
May God enlighten the eyes of your mind,
so that you can see what is the hope he calls you to,
how rich is the glory of the heritage he offers among his saints,

Amen.
May you know the greatness of the power God exercised for us who believe
when he raised Christ from the dead
and enthroned him at his right hand.

the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
