Following Jesus

Following Jesus is a Chichester Diocesan course for Christians who want to grow in faith and discipleship.  Some enquirers might also find it interesting.  It makes up one half of the Bishop’s Certificate, but can be done on its own.

Following Jesus consists of 26 sessions which take place at a deanery or other local centre.  

Following Jesus is arranged round the two great festivals of the Church’s year – Christmas and Easter.

Before Christmas we reflect on Jesus as the Word of God, who speaks to us through the whole of Scripture. We give particular attention to some of the great themes of the Old Testament (such as creation) and personalities (such as Abraham and David), and we conclude with the incarnation.

Between Christmas and Easter we reflect on the life of Jesus from his baptism to his death and burial.

After Easter we reflect on the resurrection of Jesus, the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church, and our calling to share with all God’s people in the life of the Holy Trinity.

Each session of Following Jesus brings together engagement with Scripture, reflection on experience, participation in worship, and application in daily life.
 
We hope that during Following Jesus people will grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ as

• the source of our knowledge of God;
• the key to the Scriptures;
• the foundation of the Church’s life; and
• the light who gives life to the world.

COST
The cost of the Following Jesus course is £51.00, and there are no extras such as textbooks. (3 x £17.00 or £48.00 total if paid in full on registration). Cheques should be made payable to DBF number 6 account.
